Most chiller manufacturers do not make identical replacements for their
original machines due to improved technology, new refrigerants and more
efficient heat exchangers. Even so, nearly all replacement equivalents have
larger footprints due to larger condenser coil sizes as a result of the
new refrigerants and the lower noise requirements which need larger, slower
revving condenser fans.
This always results in modifications to the chilled water pipe connections, possible replacement of support structures and shortening or lengthening of main power cables. Control/BMS interlinks also need modifying from voltage to volt free depending on existing setups.
So, it is therefore possible to consider many different manufacturers when
looking for a replacement, choosing the one that is best for you, and not
the manufacturer.
