R22 Legislation and planning ahead
- Production of R22 air conditioning equipment has already ceased.
- The production of R22 refrigerant will cease in 2010, and from 2010 onwards only existing stocks of R22 can be used.
- The demand for R22 will be huge, especially when you consider the number of R22 split systems.
- Between 2010 and 2015, stocks will dwindle and demand will increase.
- Some experts have warned that stocks may run out well before 2015.
- Lead times for deliveries on chillers are extending as demand increases. If your chiller fails in 2013, there could feasibly be a six month wait for new plant.
- Government ECA (enhanced capital allowance) incentives enable you to claim 100 per cent first year capital allowances on your spending on qualifying plant and machinery, AT THIS TIME.
